When you make a purchase with a debit or credit card, the card issuer approves or rejects the transaction based on your available credit limit or account balance. If you don’t have enough funds to cover the purchase, the card issuer will decline the transaction. When this happens, you might see error messages like “declined,” “insufficient funds,” or “error.”
If you see one of these messages from etrade, it means that we were unable to approve the transaction because there weren’t enough funds in your account to cover it. This can happen if:
-You’re trying to buy something that costs more than the balance in your account.
-You don’t have enough money in your account to cover any fees associated with the purchase (e.g., credit card processing fees, foreign transaction fees).
-Your payment method (e.g., debit card, credit card) doesn’t have enough available funds to cover the purchase.
If you see an error message from etrade saying that there are insufficient funds in your account, please check your account balance and make sure that you have enough money to cover the purchase and any associated fees. If you’re still having trouble, please contact us for help. Thanks!
